Solar Powered Service stations
Celebrating 1000 Service Stations now powered by solar in Africa
TotalEnergies is committed to solar energy with a program to install solar panels in 5,000 of its service stations worldwide, and nearly 2,500 in Africa. The Solar capacity to be installed is equivalent to the amount of electricity used to power a city of 125,000 people.
In South Africa, TotalEnergies is taking part in this program, thus covering a part of its service stations energy needs.
#FlipTheSwitch
So, why opt for solar? OR Why #FlipTheSwitch?
1. Lower CO₂ emissions
A reduction of CO₂ emissions by approximately 6 362 kg per annum. Solar has less negative impact on the environment compared to any other energy source. It does not produce greenhouse gases and does not pollute the water.
2. Lower costs
Solar power costs less and is a more reliable source of electricity because it is impervious to fluctuation in the market. By reducing operational costs, more efficient business is created leading to a more sustainable business and job security.
3. Extract more value from land and buildings
Solar systems turn unused or underused space (rooftops, carports, outlying land, etc.) into cash flow streams and savings.
Two Phases of Solarization Project:
Phase 1:
Feasibility studies are performed to determine the final size of the PV system as well as the suitable location for the installation.
Phase 2:
The actual installation can be done in a period of 3 - 6 weeks. Installation includes commissioning of the fully installed system, the additional time is due to civil and structural (carport) works required to complete the installation.
